Pumpkin Apple Breakfast Smoothie
¼ cup plus 2 tbsp. old-fashioned oats
¼ cup canned pumpkin
¾ cup Greek yogurt
1 medium apple, cut into pieces (I used honeycrisp and left the skin on)
½ banana, sliced and frozen
½ cup milk (almond, soy, cow’s, etc. – whatever you prefer)
⅛ tsp. pumpkin pie spice
6 ice cubes
Place oats in blender and blend for about 30 seconds until finely chopped. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
Avoid the pitfalls that come with pumpkin, spice, and everything nice (including unnecessary calories) by reaching for this morning Pumpkin Apple pick-me-up. If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, it’s because this special food is extremely rich in antioxidants, flavinoids, and fiber. This combination can help reduce the risk of diabetes, cancer, and heart disease, just to name a few.
The pumpkin portion of this concoction will do its duty for your body by helping to enhance your skin’s glow. Orange fruits and veggies are typically saturated with beta-carotene, and this fall favorite is no exception. The plant carotenoids are loaded with this antioxidant, which is turned into Vitamin A in your body. This, in turn, becomes a skin-satisfying, glow-inducing element to your diet.
Winter Berry Smoothie
1 cup mixed berries, frozen
1- 1¼ cups apple cider
Honey or agave syrup to taste
In a blender, combine the frozen berries and apple cider.
Process until smooth, adding extra juice if it seems a little too thick.
Add honey or agave syrup to sweeten if necessary.
As the colder season approaches, rich, luscious foods will find their way directly onto your plate if you’re not careful. To sustain from the temptation of delectable delights that come with the holidays, put your food riches in a glass. A Winter Berry Smoothie will satisfy your desires for sweet, sultry taste bud tempters while giving your body its just desserts.
Strawberries deliver a big boost of Vitamin C, which not only keeps you healthy during cold season — it helps to keep free radicals from stealing oxygen that enhances healthy skin cells. It also has its hand in keeping back collagen-destroying radicals, which could otherwise lead to wrinkles and signs of aging.
Blackberries serve a similar purpose. Their properties help to promote the healthy tightening of skin tissue, which can help you keep your youthful appearance.
